Unveiled at CES 2021 and launched to the UK public in April, the LG OLED G1 TV is one of the industry’s most awarded TVs so far this year, including a Tech Radar Editor’s Choice Award, T3 Platinum Award, and Trusted Reviews Recommended Award, with 14 awards in total and counting. The LG G1 is available in three sizes (55′, 65′, 77′) and features the brand-new OLED evo technology exclusive to the LG G1 range, representing the newest and most advanced innovation in OLED technology. The next-gen OLED panel is designed to include an extra layer of more emissive material, refining the wavelengths of light and increasing efficiency – this is combined with the power of the α9 Gen 4 processor, resulting in a brighter and sharper image for the optimal viewing experience. The G series also features an ultra-slim form, designed to be wall-mounted flush against the wall, akin to a work of art, for a seamless interior finish.

The α9 Gen 4 Processor 4K is capable of automatically detecting and optimising content for a best-in-class picture and sound experience. Within the processor, AI Picture Pro uses a database of over one million visual data points and a deep-learning algorithm to recognise onscreen objects and distinguish between foreground and background, remove noise and optimise picture quality for a clearer and more natural image. What’s more, the G1’s OLED Motion Pro feature uses advanced motion handling technology to reduce motion blur to deliver smoother action and a clearer viewing experience.

Meanwhile, LG’s AI Sound Pro delivers an immersive experience by learning from more than 17 million audio data points to identify voices, effects, and frequencies to optimise the sound by genre, whilst the TV’s new Auto Volume Leveling feature maintains consistent voice levels across different types of content. The processor can also up-mix stereo sound into a virtual 5.1.2 surround sound experience. The TV’s Bluetooth Surround Ready connects to compatible Bluetooth speakers for a true wireless surround sound experience for a richer and more realistic audio performance.

The G1 series also proves a great option for gamers with a 1ms response time, low input lag, and HDMI 2.1 ports supporting Variable Refresh Rate, Auto Low Latency Mode, eARC and 4K HFR. These advanced features help gamers stay competitive by displaying fast-moving content in a higher resolution with smooth, synchronised graphics. In addition, the Game Optimiser makes gaming seamless and convenient for the user by putting all game settings in one place and adjusting the picture to optimise graphics to the type of game the user is playing.

LG’s G1 series also supports a wide variety of streaming services, including Freeview Play, NOW, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV and more – all housed on the redesigned webOS 6.0 platform for a more personalised viewing experience.
